Cactus Amethyst/Ametrine - Small

This cactus amethyst quartz comes from South Africa, in the Boekenhoutshoek area of Mpumalanga, where the unique two-stage crystal growth gives it that prickly, cactus-like look.

It’s a quartz crystal with its amethyst color coming from iron impurities that get stuck in the crystal lattice to give it those lavender and orange hues.

Quartz itself is pretty common and makes up about 12 percent of Earth’s crust—but this cactus form is rare because it needs two separate crystallization events to happen juuust right.

with a glassy luster and the six-sided crystals and pyramidal terminations, it's a great addition to any collection and not something you'll find in every crystal shop.
